Course registration at FDY is made by Student Resources. Students do not need to register separately.
Before classes start, they will be published in the MySU announcements. You can find out your course schedule by entering your student number. You can also view it via the Student Information System.
You can send your document request to schooloflanguages@sabanciuniv.edu. Your document will be prepared within 2 working days.
There is no tuition fee for summer school at the FDY level. At the end of the spring semester, students who obtain a passing grade (70 or above) in Route 2 and Route 3, but cannot obtain a passing grade in Route 4 or Route 4 Intensive, and those who receive a D in June ELAE, can study in summer school.
The normal education period at the FDY level is 1 academic year. The maximum education period is 2 academic years.
● Students who are not successful at the end of the first year can study at FDY for one or two more semesters. These students must apply to the School of Languages Directorate with the “FDY Optional Attendance Application Form” on the dates determined by the University.
● Students who do not want to study at FDY for an additional semester or two can apply to the School of Languages Directorate with the “Application form to study Outside FDY” and request an additional period. Students in this situation can use their right to additional time to improve their English language skills outside the University as students preparing externally. In this case, liabilities to the university must be checked.
● These students become entitled to start undergraduate/graduate programs if they sit and succeed in the ELAE (provided that they apply) during the time they spend outside or if they submit a Language Exemption Certificate on the dates determined by the University. Click here for language exemption conditions.
By the decision of the School of Languages Board, these students are dismissed from FDY due to academic failure. Students who have completed the maximum education period can improve their English language skills outside the University at their own expense. These students are given three ELAE rights, which they can use within three years, and the right to submit a language exemption certificate on the dates determined by the University. Click here to get information about FDY exemption exams.
Students who do not renew their registration at the FDY, and who do not request additional education or additional time, become unregistered. Students who remain unregistered due to non-payment of tuition fees for 4 consecutive years will be dismissed from the University with the approval of YÖK.
Students who are dismissed from FDY due to academic failure are given the right to take three ELAE exams within three years. You can use this right within 3 years.
Semester leave is allowed during the Foundations Development Year. You can take leave for a maximum of 1 academic year. You need to apply for leave via SUForm. Once your leave application is discussed and approved by the School of Languages Board and the required fee payment is completed, your leave application will be approved.
