The English Pronunciation Course

Congratulations to Hilâl Yıldırım, İlayda Kurdan and Burak Sekili for successfully completing the English pronunciation course in the School of Languages at Sabancı University for the Fall 2017 semester! They worked very hard and attended all meetings of the course. In recognition, they were invited to meet the director of the program and receive certificates and a special prize.
The pronunciation course aims to provide students with tools to analyze the sound of English to improve their oral communication skills. The course focuses on the segmental and suprasegmental facets of English pronunciation, beginning by analyzing the manner and place of articulation of a variety of challenging phones and practicing them both in isolation and in a variety of contexts. Suprasegmental features of English are also reviewed, leading to more fluent and intelligible oral production of ideas.
