“Learning in the Metaverse” by Eileen McGivney

Eileen McGivney, who is a PhD Candidate, Researcher, and Instructor at the Harvard University Graduate School of Education, kindly accepted our invitation to be a guest speaker to inform our students about virtual reality technologies and answer their questions about educational issues. She met students from the School of Languages online on December 13, 2022. The title of her talk was “Learning in the Metaverse”.
She explained extended reality (XR) technologies and their potential for building meaningful learning experiences. She discussed how these immersive technologies can provide solutions for global educational challenges and concluded her talk by addressing the affordances and limitations of XR technologies in education and learning.
